This is the closest Philatelic Center that I found near you

Van Nuys Post Office
15701 Sherman Way
Van Nuys, CA 91409

You might want to call first to make sure it is still there

People seem not to like dealers, but for the time spent and the gas burned chasing down new issues as they emerge, it might be worth paying someone a little more for putting up with the hassle AND THE ADDED EXPENSE for you. Just a thought.

I'm always more than happy to pay a lttle more for an item that I can see and touch before I buy. Having been a small business owner for awhile, I also understand that these guys are a dying breed and need to make a profit to stay in business. If we don't support storefront and bourse dealers, they will disappear. They might anyway.

Thanks again for all the great info and advice! I will call and check out that Philatelic Center, as well as go to the stamp show one of these days. It also sounds like I should really join a club. That looks like one in Simi Valley that I'll check into. I like the idea of a stamp swap... Invariably I end up with dupes as well as small gaps in my collection...

Cheers!

Rob
