Knowledge Is Power

Was having a look through some items on ebay and came across the below listing that was of some interest

But thanks to the knowledge shared on SCF was able to quickly identify that it had to be a fake

I am still very much a novice in a lot of areas but my knowledge continues to grow courtesy of SCF and its members

Why do you suspect it's a fake ? My other question is why would someone fake a $3.00 item ?

hey stallzer the stamp (SG574 / ScC61) on the cover was not issued until 1938 which is well after the supposed "cancel" date of 1926 - For it not to be a fake the "cancel" would have to be a huge "cancel stamp" date error

And as to why you would fake a low value item who knows? It just wouldnt be worth it I would think

PS - As a follow up I let the Seller know and he has pulled the item afetr a very amicable exchange of emails
