That is really on topic right now with the 150th anniversary just past for the L-D debates. In fact Freeport IL celebrated with a pictorial postmark for the event in August. I HAVE to get my printer to work properly so I can send a cover this week, it keeps putting black smudges on my envelopes. I think I even have that cacheted cover, but without the back postmark for receiving city.

Phil,
That would be a great postcard to use for a pictorial postmark with a topic of Lincoln or the Civil War, or an unofficial first day of sale. Yes, I could make use of it.

I don't have many stamps with Lincoln on them, but I do have all the 1 cent coins from 1909 - 2008.

On friday the 3rd I get to add one more stamp to my Lincoln collection...the 1957 Lincoln Premiere from the "Tailfins and Chrome" set. Plus I can tie it to my Route 66 collection. I will be doing an unofficial first day of sale cover with that stamp and an Abe Lincoln stamp with a Springfield IL hand cancel. HOORAY! Now I just need to come up with a cachet.
