There is a club nearby and I do think I would benefit if I joined. Unfortunately, I always remember the meeting the day after it took place. Must be a senior's moment. But I do intend to be a member some day soon.

You didn't include my voting option! Would like to belong to a club but have not gotten organized.

Timbres667, sounds like you have the right idea if your goal is only to acquire new material. I have found that the experience and fellowship of fellow philatelists are the greatest benefits. I know this isn't true for everyone. Glad you found a solution that works for you.

Bobgggg, thanks for telling us about your club. I take it your group doesn't pay rent or mail a newsletter. That is our club's biggest expenses that aren't related to our annual stamp show. We do a Christmas Party with a small fee, enough to cover the cost and make occasional donations.

JanS, that qualifies you as an officer in most clubs I've had experience with. Believe me, they help keep me organized with all the extra duties.

dlawson281 we all contribute what we can. Working an off schedule would really make it challenging. My son works the same shift, but does his best to attend as many meetings as possible. It's a real family activity. I am past president, my wife is the secretary, and both of my sons are members.

tim,
I find the magnifying glasses extremely useful for sorting and they leave both your hands free.
