Hi Everyone,
I need a lot of help on this one.
Looking at the sticker that is on the clear protective sleeve for this old cover, I need a decoder ring for this,

I am guessing the "target cancel" in the circle inside a circle ON the stamp?

What does FVF, CDS, Tolland and DPO stand for?
the 1853/74 is the the possible date of the stamp?

And you will notice this was trying to be sold for $65.00 that is alot of money for this cover right?

Inside is a letter, writer informs that someone died of lockjaw! I have a bunch of old letters and seems like someone is sick, dying or dead.

Anyway, here is the photo of the cover and sticker, thank you for any help:

CDS - Circular Date Stamp (type of cancel).
DPO - Discontinued Post Office (some in existence only a year or two are quite rare.
Tolland - County where Coventry Depot is located.
1853/74 - Years "Coventry Depot" was in operation.

No opinion whether that is a good price or not.

Thank you for the information doug2222.
Looks like previous owner knew enough to add all that information in the hopes of selling the cover, though the price could be way high. I suppose I could check ebay, but sometimes it's hard to FIND things there.

Thanks again, it really helps!

I wonder if the stamp has any value, guessing it is not too rare?

The stamp is old, but not worth much- catalogs a around 50¢ to $1 I think. FVF= fine very fine ( I assume the seller is talking about the cancel, as neither the stamp or the cover is in fine/ very fine condition in my book.)
I'd say the $65 is for the cancel, as you can get similar covers with #65 for $3 or so on ebay. The post office was open 21 years so I think the cancel would be quite uncommon. Oh, the stamp is from 1861-5, I think.

The data on that tag probably comes from an auction lot write-up, Lot #177, not from the owner.

I am not impressed by the price.
I have seen better, and shorter operating DPOs, sell for far less.
Just my opinion. Maybe I am missing some sort of rarity here?

I can't read the address, etc., because it's too faint; obviously a Trans-Atlantic usage of some kind. May I ask what is the cancel on the 12c?

From what I can read, it's addressed to an infantry unit in Germany . The cancel on the 12c scott69 has squiggly lines running parrallel to each other, not sure of the proper terminology
