Some of the pages for my precancels that I printed from Stamp Web that are of the more recent precancels have identifying numbers like 3.1 4.1 2.1 The older ones have 71 (lines separated by 10.5mm) 63 same as 61 but broken into three lines. I cant find any explanation for tne 1.1 2.1 etc ids. Anyone with any help please (with my OCD I cant finish and it is driving me mad (I know - short ride)) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jeff

They could be the note codes, each number has note discribing variations and other details of that type & town.

These notes can be found in the front of the PSS T&T Catalogs.

The designations "2.1", "3.1", etc., are illustrated in the PSS Bureau Precancel catalog. They refer to the newer precancels that show the service indicator (no town names). Now, I'm going off my memory here, 2.1, 3.1 and 4.1 are different variations of the Presorted First Class precancels. 1.3 & 1.4 are two line precancels (without service indicator). There are a whole lot more.

Cheers, Robert
