Got a notice from Amazon about the new Scott Catalogue for the US and British Commonwealth. Price---wait for it---$174.99. Don't think I'll be getting that. Good grief, what a price.

Ron:

That price is a little too rich for me also.

I am lucky enough that my local library carries the
new Scott's in their reference section

Ron, when they get to be a year or two old..the catalogs get a lot cheaper...i hate to admit this..i purchased a set of 2008 through the mail for half price and when I went to the stamp show in Vermont one dealer had his 2008 catalogs on the table for $20 a piece...i could have kicked myself...timing is everything !!

Phil..I was holding back, because I didn't want to see you kick yourself. They had three sets of the 2008 for 25- 40 bucks each, at White Plains, depending on the dealer.

nuggethill: How did you like the CD? I guess I am old fashioned and prefer a book I can turn the pages in. But the CD, if I am not mistaken is a lot less in cost than the books. Am I correct in this?

Having to fire up the computer and then wade through the CD is for me a very distasteful task.

Good Morning Everyone
I Like The CDs, You Can Copy The Pages Of The County Or Section That Applies.
Of Course If You Collect A Lot Of Countries It Pays To Get The Printed Catalogue,Due To The Cost of Paper And Ink.

I prefer a book to CDs even if I have to shell a few extra bucks for it.

I Liked It Better When You Could Buy A Catalogue For The British Commonwealth Separate From The Rest of The World.
I am Not Sure If Scott Still publish A "Classic Catalogue"?
I Am Fairly Fortunate That Most Of My Collecting Interests Lie In VOLlll.

I paid $170 for the main 6 volumes of 2008 shipped...my wife and I use them every day...i will get two years out of them so thats 85 dollars a year...i could not bring myself to pay the $322 dollars I could have gotten the 2009 catalogs for..as a worldwide collector and trader I need these tools of the trade..in two years we shall see again...the scott catalogs are expensive...but look at the work involved in just updating the new issues that come out every year..not to mention the fluctuation in prices ! Yes all prices do not stay the same or increase every year..many go down as supply and demand do their thing !!
