I don't know if this is the right place for this question but I couldn't think of a better alternative...

My question is this: what is a good place to buy discount postage? I have a dozen or so large bins of books to sell online, and I would like to save as much money on the mailing charges as I can.

I don't know about postage, but Flat Rate boxes sounds like your best bet.

Well, I already have mailers (I ordered bubble mailers...) I don't know if they will work, but they are cheaper than the boxes ($2.75 postage {media mail} + 50˘ for the mailer and 50˘ for driving plus other stuff) is still cheaper than $4.95 or $5.10 or whatever price the USPS charges.

You can pick up discount postage on ebay -- auction lots usually go for between 60 and 85% of face value.

Another strategy is to buy later U.S. collections that are mostly mint; Roecy seems to have a lot of these. Some will go for less than face if heavily loaded with 34c-45c commems, hinged, but you always have the chance of picking up some desirable stamps too. Last month, I bid one up to 83% of face, finally down to just me and one other bidder; the album was loaded with good stuff besides a lot of discount postage, but I decided to wait for another day.
