Has anyone ever been tempted to start a collection of something like the Soviet Union, just because there is a definite beginning and end to the collection. |

Austria #1 to 1980, missing less than 35 stamps. Australia #1 to 1984, missing 42 stamps. India #1 to 1980, missing 19 stamps.
Working towards similar completion percentages on Denmark & Sweden. The hunt is on...

There is always the Canal Zone (1904-1979). Gorgeous stamps, overprints, varieties, errors, postal stationery and very interesting postal history. |

My U.S. collection goes to 1994, I stopped after that year. I need 6 stamps to complete the commemoratives. My U.S. Airmail is complete, C1 to C150. My pre decimal Australian collection needs 8 stamps to complete. Papua and New Guinea pre-decimal is complete. Pre-decimal Norfolk Island is complete. Now working on regular issues of U.S. Germany, Great Britain and many others. It may never end. |

My Canadian collection. Now all I need are the real expensive ones - which I doubt I will ever get, but, who knows, I might get lucky <G>.

Great topic. I love finally completing a country or a section of a country. Kinda gives you a sense of accomplishment, huh? As for countries, I finished out my Confederate States of America a few years back.
More recently I finished my (U.S.) Postage Dues and Airmails along with some smaller sections of Scott listed Back Of the Book items such as Cigarette Tubes, Tobacco Sales, Customs, Boating stamps, Distilled Spirits Excise Tax, Rectification Tax, Hunting Permits (Ducks), and Savings Stamps. Working on MANY, MANY more "BoB" categories. I'll never run out.
Yes, as you can tell I really enjoy the oddball back-of-the-book listed stuff (and non-listed stuff) but I still strive for collecting the more normal front-of-the-book items, too.

Stampvirgin..my regular issues of U.S. I am working on, 1847 foreword. I do have #1 and #2. the Kansas, Nebraska overprints, the 1938 Presidential series, fairly complete from 1916-17. I do have alot of empty spaces in the earlies, 1847-1900. I haven't been working on my U.S. collection for some time. I guess I should get back to it.

My shoe boxes full of stamps are the most complete - at least I can't get any more into the boxes. |
