I couldn't help myself. This one was described as having a blue cancellation. It has a black cancellation. I believe the blue is an ink smear, not a cancel. Most every cancellation I have seen can be discerned with some kind of pattern, but not this one.

The blue ink is the same color as the stamp ink and I can't detect any pattern even with a 30x glass. The smear covers nearly the whole stamp and appears to be under the black cancellation itself. I'm open to opinions of others who can see more to this than I.

Art, there is a definite blue smear and it doesn't look like a cancel. Most cancel ink had a large amount of oils, is there any staining on the back in that area? I think that your stamp is a relief C.

It sort of looks like it may also have a trace of that plate flaw known on the #24's Under ear and on lapel. Dunno without seeing larger scan. I agree that it is an ink smear.

The back side distinctly shows the black cancel but nothing else that I can determine. It's real difficult to determine any other flaws when the smear is of the same ink.

Thanks Russ. BTW, I was even trying to see if it was a finferprint...
