As the colour stated by Scott Catalogue for Scott#C23c is ultramarine & carmine, what that looks like?

Does this block of 4 looks like that?

It would be hard to tell from your scanned image whether or not this is the variety you are referring to. I do know that C23c is extremely scarce, so the only way to know for sure would be to get it expertized.

If it helps, here are three known images of the varieties of this stamp and it seems very difficult to accurately compare them based on these scans:

wt1, many thanks for your pictures and the link, these really help a lot , these are all I need.

The three examples are all come from one cover mixture, I will check again in the next a few days to decide if sending that block to an authenticate office. But for now, I can not see which one is the same colour with your example.

chasa, many thanks for the perfect reference.

I have sent an email to PSE to ask how to do the verification procedure and how much is the fee.

Will keep watching your link, as there are too many "frustrated" examples on there, someday mine will be there too.

...but it will be the genuine ones I am sure.

Is there a story behind the C23c and why it exists? Did the printers use the wrong ink or something?

The differences seem so subtle, it is not only hard to tell them apart, but if you compare some of the more modern material to these examples, you can find a bunch of printing variances in today's stamps that are much more obvious yet don't often qualify for even a mention in the Scott catalog.

Hope to hear that too, how many factors can led to this? Wrong ink? Meeting an emergency printing for raw materials of blue exhausted provisionally? Collecting purpose? ......

I guess the old time stamps printing like the printing of banknote, every procedure is controled under the rigorous work style, or Scott Catalogue only want to mention the rare case which is important in stamp collecting field?

ZC - This is a very difficult variety to properly identify as there are some that are very close to this color that are not considred C23c.

eyeonwall, many thanks for your remind.

I guess you already "polled the negative vote". I feel that colour is not normal compare the normal colour, it is worth to have a try. The PSE has replied my asking about the verification fee, the fee is acceptable, so I will send this cover to them to make me calm.

The only two ways to tell shades and colors on rare pieces for sure are,

1. Like above stated, send it in for certification.
2. Compare it side by side with a known good example.

A problem, looks like the PSE does not accept the PayPal fund, only VISA or MASTER, and must write the card account information on the application form, I have VISA, but I want to use paypal fund.

Have emailed to the PF, hope they will accept the paypal fund.

Zhang,

I send submissions to PSE on a regular basis. If they won't take Paypal and you'd like to send the stamp(s) to me, I would submit them for you with the other stuff I'm sending in.

Matt
