Quote:
USPS has sold 18.2 million Major League All-Star Forever stamps since their issuance in July.

The above quote was taken from the concluding paragraph of this 09/20/2012 news release:

https://liteblue.usps.gov/news/link...news21s5.htm

In that 80 million of the 4 player stamps were issued, along with another 3 million of each of the individual player stamps, that means of 92 million stamps issued, 18.2 million have been sold to date, which comes out to 19.8% of the total printing.

I wonder how this compares with other US issues?

All the MLB press sheets together (the se-tenants, that is) only account for 300,000 stamps (2500 x 120), a spit in the ocean compared with the overall printing.

I predict some stamp company will vacuum up as many of them as they can get their hands on, then "pump and dump" the press sheets in the Sunday newspaper, or HSN, or Popular Mechanics, etc. The price point will be too high for the average household, so they will chop them up into the sheetlets of 20, for some ridiculous sum, thus making intact 120-stamp sheets even MORE valuable.
