Looking for some reference material/tool, etc., to determine the type of paper being used (candidates) for subject stamps.

Thanks

Sure. For example, I'm currently trying to reconcile a set of sheets DDR series of 10,15,20,and 25pf, which could be series O18-O27 or O37-O43. Since the latter series is redrawn from the former, they are almost identical, (except there is no 25 pf in the O37-O43 series. The main difference if I am correct, is that the redrawn is on Granite paper. How do I tell? I can inspect it, feel it, magnify it. But if I don't know what I'm looking at, I can't reconcile it.Also have similar problem with phosphorus, typo, photo, etc. I read the verbage in Scott's intro, but can't put it in practical terms.

Granite paper has many small curly threads, sometimes red and blue, sometimes just blue easily visible from the reverse of the stamps.

Art,
two ways to have your hobby very enjoyable,
is to get aquainted with the SCF search function
(generally use search in titles only)

and...if you have access to a scanner, post pics.

The rest we can generally serve up.

I checked it out. Assuming my observations are correct, I found out that four of the five were Granite paper, and one was not. That reconciled with Scotts. I was assuming that they all came from the same set, which turns out not to be the case.
Thanks much for the hint.

Any hints on 'Typographic' vs Lithographic?

There is a nice reference set sometimes available through online auctions. Here are some scans of my set, they are quite nice and not that expensive. I will post the scans in the order they appear on the typed list:

Havae a good one,
