Hello all I am going through my collection looking for stamps with value and interest. I came across these, I know some are not postage stamps just wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these? My catalog did not seem to list these. (even in the back of book) Thanks

They are U.S. Back-of-the-Book items and most of them will be listed in the Scott Specialized Catalogue which is the more complete version of U.S. items than just a basic Scott Catalogue.
You've got a tobacco label (Springer catalog), documentary, stock transfers, wine stamp
Green stamps (private grocery store type), a few telegraph stamps, another stock transfer, a documentary (I think - can't read it), another telegraph stamp,
and bottom row - a private package label, a playing card tax stamp, another documentary, stock transfer, and a couple more documentaries.
On first glance at the small scan (and without my catalog in front of me) I'd say nothing jumps out as any huge value but all of them make a great start to a B.O.B. collection

Thanks Kurt, I will have to get that catalogue. I have had these for a long time, I always thought them cool, I have others too. Sorry about the scan I am new at posting pictures. I find it works better with a couple stamps vs. a lot. they get too small. |

You will get much better results if you turn your scan into two images, each one approximately square, say 4 x 4 stamps. Also, make your scan "area" only slightly larger than the stamps, 4 x 4 inches or maybe 5 x 5 inches. Do not use the entire 8½ x 11 scan glass and crop away most of the unused space - that guarantees fuzzy images, especially since we are limited to 100kb.
A scan of four stamps arranged in a square, so to speak, will always turn out better than four stamps in a row, such as in a stock sheet. It's a long technical explanation why. |

I collect revenue stamps casually. I love that $1 rev in the middle of bottom row! |

Thanks for the scanning tips. And I agree, those are all nice stamps with $1 Dollar in middle bottom row the star. Never seen one like it, I love the way they put a different color to the portrait. I have no idea what the hand-cancels do to the value but my opinion is they should increase it. |

I should add that I just referred to it by its short name - the full name is the "Scott Specialized Catalogue of United States Stamps and Covers" and the 2013 version will run roughly $80 but if you find an older used version you can reduce your cost down to the $20-$50 range or so.
It's simply a plethora of U.S. stamp information from cover to cover. |

I have been using Liberty Streets Stamp manage software for years and so far the 2012 prices seem pretty close. Mystic is way over what you can get stamps for on the open market. |

Actually, within this small group, because of the handstamp cancel the 50 cent second issue is the star rather than the $1 third issue. |
