1908 Postcard Printing Error?

This is the only card from 1000's I have that is like this..can anyone tell me if this is a error card or if you have seen something like this before and is quite common?

Is it that the front and back are not printed the same way up? I believe that is called a tumble format. If you turn the card from the top rather than sideways the two sides will be the same.

Whether or not it may have been an unintended "error" by the printer, the fact is that the card is a privately printed one and since it has no connection with the post office means that there is likely no extra value to it.

I receive mail quite often (even to this day) where the envelopes or postcards may have been printed "upside down" but in most cases, when an "error" like that is caught, the printer merely reprints the order for the customer and doesn't want the old material back, so many businesses just use them up as they see fit.

You could have one of these, an upside down windowed envelope :)



Look through the window and you can see the sealing flap.

Maybe the postcard was especially made with the intention of being sent to Australia.

You have pretty hands..Also, are you referring to the embossing or just that it's up-side-down appearing? I believe James got it. It's just so when you flip it over it all appears to be right-side-up. If that makes sense?

I wasn't aware of the 'tumble format' until now. Having read this, can I assume that a bundle of postcard stock was arranged for printing and once one phase was done, the whole bundle was turned over (top to bottom - bottom to top) and then the address side was printed in reverse to the pic or design (or vice-versa)?
