Great grill Joe.
Really clear and I wish all grills would stand out like yours.

Joe- sorry but this may be a fake grill.
From the back it looks like 'points up', where the grill points are raised up above the surface on the face. 'Points up' grills are only A (not avail on this design), B (only avail on 3c, 4 copies known), and C (3c only). All of the 'points up' grills are designated as 'expiramental' and are all scarce.
Also, look at the horizontal rows. If they are not perfectly aligned, they're fake. A couple of the rows look crooked to me. Especially the 7th row from the top.
If isn't 'points up' please let us know. Thanks, Ray
Hope this isn't the case |

They do point up on the back. I purchased it from a reputable dealer on e-bay, NY Stamps. Hard to believe it might be a fake. |

ha.. NYStamps is not as "reputable" as you might think. They have a habit of throwing carp against the wall till it sticks. Send it back. 87's are not that expensive. there are better ones around. that pen cancel is nasty and would have brought the price of that stamp down to below $20.00 easy. You can get a VF one for less then $50.00, just look around and be patient.

What a let-down Joe. So sorry this happened.
Things like this doesn't do the hobby justice if it was done intentionally to deceive buyers.

Wait, Should the Grill be pointed up on the Front or the Back?, this stamp has the points raised up on the back of the stamp. The Front is not.
Now I am a little confused. |

Points should be down, which means raised on the back Still concerned with the crooked row #7 though. If it is legit it would be an extraordinary strike. Grills just don't normally look like that at all. Hope it's good. You might consider posting it on the "Experts Opinions" at VSC and you'll get an answer- link is www.virtualstampclub.comHappy Thansgiving, Ray |

"I purchased it from a reputable dealer on e-bay, NY Stamps. Hard to believe it might be a fake." I think the grill is probably just strongly impressed, and genuine. There are very few sellers on ebay that describe stamps well enough to protect novice buyers. NY Stamps is certainly not one of them. They are predators IMO. |

If Winston says it's good, it's good......
My reasoning on the crooked row, is that I submitted a #91 to Bill Weiss earlier this year, and it came back as a fake, and he mentioned to me in a note that if the points are not lined up perfectly, it's not genuine.....
Thanks Winston for popping in.....Ray |
