I removed this stamp from an Album dated 1879,(see here https://goscf.com/t/26993) sadly it's not in great shape. I do not see a grill on it could it be a 114a?
I have many stamps in this 1879 album and I am taking great care to remove the stamps. But I think many of them have faults.
I have a 116 with a nice cancel but it's torn in the center.
I did a bleach test on one of those this past weekend that had the paper as brown as yours. Came out as white as brand new but when blotting it dry, most of the blue ink came off on the paper towel :)
Could it be a 114a? Yes, since they do exist. Is it a 114a? Odds are overwhelmingly, No. There are only 14-16 known copies, so stallzer's comment is more than 99.99999% correct. You could spend large amounts of money having it expertized, certified, etc. and it find it to be a 114 that is worth $0.00 due to its severe damage.
