Thought for a second a pitbull bit a stamp- refering to Michael Vick the football player jailed for fitting and killing pitbulls yet still has his multi million dollar job. That was way off topic but a very neet perfin.

Purely a guess on my part, but could the perfin have been from the James Vick Seed Company of Rochester, NY? They were cited in some recent philatelic literature because of their early use of precanceled stamps, one article suggesting that they were mailing something like 20 TONS of mail in a normal day.

Here's some information about the company:

That's really neat actually! I recently came across an odd looking perfin while sorting Washington/Franklins I'll have to post later today.

Yes, the VICK perfin is from the Rochester Vick Seed company, used 1923-1934.

So does the perfin make it any more valuable or collectible?

Depends on who you ask. Most will say it detracts from the value but if you find a perfin collector that does not have this company in their collection then perhaps it could increase the value.

In this case the VICK perfin is not too common - rated C+. A fair price would be 1 or 2 USD for an interested buyer. The underlying stamp is somewhere south of 0.001 USD.

The price data in not online and the US catalog is rather expensive - although indispensable for the specialist.
