I bid on this card because of the Argentine Antarctic theme...but when I received it I am not sure what it is..its a postcard with English language and an Argentine stamp..and the explanation on the back is in German !
I assume its a FDC sent from the Argentinan Antartic territory. The explanation on the back is probably talking about the stamp an what it's commemorating.
Argentina is an odd situation in Antarctica. Its territorial claims overlap those of Great Britain and Chile, and the dispute may never get settled. The card, by the way, is postmarked Buenos Aires (philatelic bureau?), not likely to have originated in Antarctica.
It is a FDC from Argentina but it has Polar mail history only in the fact that the subject of the stamp is from that region and this stamp commemorates the rescuing feat of an Argentine ship.
If the cancel was from any base in the Antarctic, the wording would be "Antartidas" (Taking the spelling from my head.)
