Scott 318 Coil Fake?

Been going through a bunch of my classic US, and came across the stamp pictured below.

Must be a fake (since it's used and scott only lists new, and its extremely expensive)

Curious on others opinions. How was it done? - Did they cut off the top and bottom of a 300, or add perfs to a 314?

Unless its real! Ha!

It looks like the perfs were cut off the top...but they didn't quite get all of them.

Ahh - thanks all - I can see it now... The cut isn't even really straight...

I assume it would be straight on an actual coil
