Would like to know people's opinions regarding the best way to collect self-adhesive stamps. When I was collecting the first time around (before I sold my collections in the early 2000s) I made sure that there was at least a few millimeters of backing paper around the stamp (which meant having lots of extra postage). But it seems like dealers for the most part simply separate the stamps along the die-cuts. Personally I think this leaves exposed edges where the adhesive could pick up all sorts of dust and grime over time so really not fond of the idea. I don't want to collect full sheets/miniature sheets if the stamps are just single values, but at same time since I'm no longer getting these issues at face value at time of issue it means having to buy say a corner block of 4 and then sacrificing three of the stamps to get a copy I can have margins of blank backing paper around. Opinions?
