Does anybody know what the first Genuine U.S. Plate Block is? Scott's Number. The reason I ask is I have Minkus Plate Block Albums and the first Plate Block in my album is 803 issue in 1938. Keep in mind to be a true Plate Block. It must have the plate Number.

The first listing in the 2008 Durland Standard Plate Number Catalog is for Scott #7, the 1851 imperforate 1c Franklin, Type II printed by Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co.

A copy of Durland, even an older edition, will serve you well. For instance, you will find out there's a 20c Garfield [Presidential] plate block that catalogs $3500.

The plate number is 22176.
