Lithograving's have much better contrast and more vibrant colours.

I completely agree, the depth in the colors are fantastic.

I just noticed the title of the thread. JK, you might want to edit the title to read "Pan-American", not Pan-Pacific :)

Thanks stallzer- Done!

You have inspired me to complete this set. I need only Scott #298 to do it.

Here's the one I have.

Scanner Epson 3490 pro mode @1200dpi all image filters disabled.
Using Win7 as I can't obtain a decent image in OSX.

Thanks stallzer. So are you going to get a Standalone scanner now?

@AnthonyUK, your scan is very similar to mine which makes sense since
there isn't much difference between the Epson 3490 and 4490 are

lithograving

Actually yours is more true to colour and a bit sharper.
I have noticed that Flickr images have a bit more contrast than
Photobucket but I still prefer the latter becuase I find it easier to use.

Here is an example of the variance between the two image hosting services.
Same scan but different results.
Flickr train appears a bit sharper and the border is a slightly deeper red.

Not at the moment. I actually still need an all in one due to limited desk space, and with Children in School I still need a printer. Not to mention that mine still works very well. Also, I do no editing or enhancing of the images and I scan them as documents instead of Photos which does not give me the color enhancements. I do this only because it's quicker.

Maybe tonight I'll play with some color enhancements to a deeper level.
