I'm looking at 2008 catalog so wondering the recent cat value is. I count 14x16 so E it must be unless there is another row under the hinge and the ridges are magically horiZZontal. Stamp is good centering almost above average for this issue but few bad perfs so lets just say F . What would be a good/ great price to jump on this one for?
Added front image as small as it is. I figured $75 would be tops as I know I can hunt if I really had to have it.

Even with the latest catalogue I couldn't offer an opinion on retail value unless I see the front of the stamp. The eye-appeal will be the final determinator of price. Fine copies of this stamp sell for $50-$75 in sound condition if the face isn't obliterated with an unsightly cancellation.

The 2011 Scott Specialized CV for a Fine copy was $135. Here is a larger image of the front.

With the average centering and heavy cancellation, I would predict this would sell for ~$50 on ebay. A dealer might get $75 if he sat on it long enough.

Here's a listing for a nice, fine copy with red cancellation that sold for $70 for comparison.

And another penny saved lesson folks. I probably would have over spent by a 1/3 just because I don't have the specialized catalogue nor this stamp . My 2008 scotts says $400 for used so was thinking 20% wasn't far off the mark but as you can see details mean everything. Lesson learned.

I know that ebay has been criticized for lacking search functionality, but the latest iteration of viewing sold or expired auctions is great if you're trying to learn the market value of something.

Here's a link to my search in Stamps>US>19th Century Used>Sold Listings. I used the keywords "90 grill".

There are some really nice items in here for under $100 ...
