Stamp On Bill Of Lading

I was working for an international shipping line, and noticed Bills of Lading (Documents issued to prove ownership of cargo) issued in Thailand had these blue stamps put on them. Just wondering if they are real postage stamps? I have also seen bills issued in India that have red stamps with 'revenue' and '100P' on them. Images attached.

These are revenue stamps, not postage stamps. Revenue stamps are issued by governments for use in collecting a tax. These stamps show that the documentary tax was paid on the bill of lading. Revenue stamps are collectible just as postage stamps are.

Oh is see. I had no idea about revenue stamps (I am a coin collector, but these stamp things caught my eye). Now I know that gives me direction for finding more information. Thank you!
