I updated my thread in the Sale section and when I posted the changes I noticed that eight of the items that had previously been listed now contained one or more words that were hyperlinked to various web pages.
I did not insert the hyperlinks and all attempts that I've made to remove them have failed (with the exception of deleting the hyperlinked word or words from the item description).
Any ideas as to what has caused this problem?
EDIT: Subject changed to reflect what actually caused the unexpected appearance of hyperlinks that I experienced.

I was hoping someone else was seeing this. It started last night for me and I noticed there are areas all over the site here that are now links to weird products / sites. |

I am having a little bit of trouble with those advert boxes (for ebay and such) when I either post a new thread or refresh a page. The page will be littered with them in a vertical orientation up the center of the page and 3/4 of the way down. Has anyone else seen this? |

I see what you mean Stallzer. Maybe Bobby left his back door into ebay unlocked and someone snuck in when he wasn't looking. |

These links are hacks that are taking advantage of the built-in search function in Internet Explorer. All of the links are redirected via script to another website. I'm not sure who is hacked ... you, or stampcommunity.org. Please send a message to the site admin explaining the issue so he can make sure it's not a site issue.

I use firefox and have been seeing them for quite a while. I just hit refresh(F5) and the correct page shows up. |

Quote: Nope. Just an ad network beta test trying to keep this place afloat. What will it take to eliminate this "test"? More donations? I just updated another thread. That thread now contains links to advertising I did not place there. I vehemently object to my posts containing hyperlinks that I didn't place there. |

I'm with Rileysan on this one. I'll gladly donate more if needed to avoid advertising being inserted into the substance of my posts.
Or I can suggest some cheap alternatives if operating costs are an issue. The hosting plan I'm on for my sites offers unlimited disk space and unlimited bandwidth for $11/month. |

my previous post on this: Quote: I use firefox and have been seeing them for quite a while. I just hit refresh(F5) and the correct page shows up. was obviously not this issue. What I was referring to was sometimes I click on a link and I get a whole page of links to ebay. When I hit refresh then the correct page shows up. I do not like the new beta test, but if we need more financial support and that is the only way, then I guess so be it. I guess there needs to be more of us. |

If it is to generate revenue for the site, then perhaps we all need to click on at least one per session. What could it hurt? I know that I would be very saddened for this site to go away. I think that everyone here enjoys SCF and gains a lot from it. Even those who rarely post, but just read.
I do click on the ads between the posts on a regular basis. It is for the good of the site. |

Unfortunately I have an ad blocker installed due to some other sites use of excessive ads. It is interesting to notice that all of the affected people are all subscribers. |

Quote: Unfortunately I have an ad blocker installed due to some other sites use of excessive ads. I am also going to test some code to block visitors that block ads. Quote: It is interesting to notice that all of the affected people are all subscribers. That's not true. It affects everyone that visits the site. I will look into the code today to see if I can exempt supporters from being affected. That would be very fair I think. |
