Gosh, what a terrific sounding collection. I wish I had all those binders and the stamps in them. Why not rejoice in the fact that you have such a great collection that you can build on and add more?

I will concur in the others here saying that your collection is what you want it to be. It is whatever brings you pleasure and satisfaction.

Don't get me wrong fellow members.
I like the stuff very much and treasure every
piece that Dad collected. I was just venting
after a frustrating few hours of trying to sort
the same stamps by their tiny variations.

To those that were wondering about Dad's albums...
I snapped a quick pic of the 3 rings I keep in his
Army footlocker, and the FDC binders on the bookshelf.
What is in these pics is about 2/3s of the collection.

Ratio....

We all understand your frustration with the early Washington/Franklins....EVERY collector experiences the same confusion when just starting out. Many collectors rely on sellers to accurately identify that group.

As a new collector trying to understand what appears to be a fairly large collection, it might be best to sidestep that section until your able to sort through it with some confidence in your ability to identify most of the varieties.

I stopped by a stamp dealer the other day and they had some of the same First Day Cover Binders that were filled. I almost bought one since they wee going for $40.00. I noticed they had a magical Kingdom one too but I didn't really look at it.

So I just bought a pound mixture of USA and World Wide Stamps for $10. Most of the stamps range from the 1880's to the 1940's. Not knowing much about world wide stamps is frustrating however I did get a lot of Canadian stamps.
