Only 12 more years and we should see a "Pilgrim Quadcentenary" issue. If political correctness still makes that possible, of course. |

We had the Columbus quincentenary in 1992, even though that is not as PC as it once was, so maybe the Pilgrims will fare as well. |

While we are on the pilgrim issue, does anyone know if this is the only US issue (Definitives, Commemoratives, or Air) that doesn't have the designation of US, or United States on it? |

My Dad brought this FDC home from work for me in 1970. From time to time, companies have sent promotional materials using first day covers. This one was sent to Humble Oil company in Los Angeles. |

rohumpy, I do not think that is the only 1 without a country designation printed. I just can't think of the other issues. Try searching for previous threads. |

I can't think of another issue without United States off-the-top of my head. Here is the 5c Pilgrim in my collection, although a decent copy is not a monster like the 1c. I still need these issues on cover. |

Quote: What about the 2 cent issue ? I only have the 2c in mint condition from my original US collection (before I decided to focus on used stamps and postal history). Here it is, still in the crystal mount. I don't have any covers with the 1c, 2c, or 5c Pilgrim Tercentenary issues. |

Here is another Pilgrim First Day Cover that my Dad ("Big Tom") brought home from the Humble Oil Company. His secretary saved it for me and wrote on it "Tom - Stamp for your son ---->" So it brings back a lot of memories... Even though the cover is written on and stamp is creased it is priceless to me. |

Tom..you now have the 2 cent on cover, mailed from Cambridge Mass. to Bedford Mass.. looks like a cancel date of May 8, 1921. Is it common to have both towns postmarks affixed to the front of the cover ? This one has. Will be in Mondays mail to you Bob [ Secret Scrooge] GGGG |
