Spanish anyone? Well I wasn't thinking very clearly when I purchased my very first stampless covers-letters. They are very pretty and got them for a good deal though but I will never know what they say

Given the fancy cursive writing I will need a better close-up of the letter to translate it. These are lovely covers though. If you decide you dont want them I am sure I can find a good home for them . . . somewhere. :D

FYI these look to be from Mexico.

I would love to find someone to translate them too, but I don't know how to make them any bigger without the site saying too large. They are nice covers though, very nice writing.

The handwriting is pretty decent. You can always find someone who can translate for you or even use an online translator which is not perfect, but give you a general idea.

I would not call it a terrible mistake, merely a temporary inconvenience; the letters' content, once known, may prove an amazement to you.

Photobucket will allow you to upload your large images but it's been messed up for a few days now though. The image tags you'll need are- for what ever reason- are url codes?? but a similar site will work just as well. Nice looking cover too.

Imageshack is also a good place to upload images. I have been using it problem free since December.

I just tried bing's translator and no luck. I cannot read the letters well enough for it to translate.

Translations on the covers are very easy:
Cover #1. Mailed from Mexico City to Zacatecas, postmarked 23 of January. The letter was dated on 22 of Jan 1853. Charged 3 Reales. Notation of received on 28 and possibly replied Feb 8.
Cover #2: Mailed from Aguascaliente, postmarked Auagust 8, charged 2 reales, sent to Sombrete, with notation "answered August 12/(18)55.
Cover #3: Sent from Nazas to Durango (city), charged 2 reales.
Cover 4: Sent from Guadalajara on Feb 21 with 2 reales postage. You should be able to read the date on the dateline heading in the letter.

NOTE: You can Google all the cities and find out where they are located in Mexico.

The purchases are only a mistake if you believe so. You can appreciate them for their beauty and for being 150 years old. And when you discover what they say you will have one more reason to appreciate them. I think they are lovely!

You're right. I do appreciate them for their beauty and really didn't make a mistake in purchasing them.

Someday I will figure out what the contents are, but will be patient until that time comes.

Thanks for everyones help

Wow that was not easy. First, I scanned the images way too large and it took forever. I ended up trying photobucket first and that turned into being a mess. Then I rescanned the letters a little smaller and used imageshack and think I may have it done. Please be aware I think the letters of these covers are gigantic. Thanks in advance.
