The envelope was addressed to Syosset New York, however the
sender used the wrong zip code.

Zip code 11207 is a Brooklyn New York Zip,

Syosset would be 116--.

Received by the Brooklyn Post Office.

I guess the Brooklyn PO just reverted the envelope to the Syosset
PO...With no markings.

Neat cover! What is on the stamp? Looks like a medal or a coin.

T360...Tom, all that I know is that the set is an air-mail issue of 1981 titled, The Creation of the World.

I would bet that its The Creation of the Mayan Empire.

As to coins or medals..I DUNNO, could be some types of Bronze artwork.

Maybe Phil The Guatemalaoligist can shed some information.

Very nice cover! I've never thought of myself as any kink of *oligist, but here's what I know about this issue:

It is part of a series called the Popol Vuh issues. They were released in four separate issues/themes during 1981 and include Scott #'s C715-C738. The themes are: 1 - The Creation; 2 - The Adventures of Hun Ahpu and Xbalanque; 3 - The Founding of the Quiche Nation; and, 4 - The Territorial Expansion of the Quiche. Although they are of several different colors and look similar, only two are greenish-yellow. I can't make out this particular illustration, but I believe the ones shown are either C727 (Destruction of the Stick-Men) or C729 (Chomiha, Wife of Balam Acab).

PhilB would probably be able to narrow it down more. BTW, here's a link with more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_Hero_Twins

Swabbie, thanks for doing the leg work..looking at my copy with only one word beneath the medallion I would say its the chomiha,C-729. I am trying to complete the set in postally used condition and still need two to go..the set of 24 unused is not expensive. less than 10 bucks !!

Rick...Yes I did. There is a dealer, who sells collections, and covers, I think his name is Steve McGill.

On Saturday, he went 50 % off on his covers, so I picked this one up for 50 cents.

I usually don't go after covers using # 10 envelopes, but this one I thought was interesting.
