I'm going through a large pile of Washington A157 and separated out the various items. My biggest pile is Scott 634. I haven't yet found "Long Ear" or "Smiling George", but I have found a large number with EFO type areas. Most appear to be just small pieces of paper in inopportune places. Here are some examples:

Over/Under Inking (In some threads, I've seen versions of this type called Re-Entries):

Marks in or near the "U" of "United":

Heavy Marks near either "2". The first one is a disaster, while the last one almost looks like a small "hat":

Not as apparent as these others, but the "C" in "Cents" has a small horizontal serif:

Finally, two more normal items. The first is a faint "Newton Kans" precancel that I haven't seen on this issue. The second is a "Honolulu" cancel that I like to see on any of the older issues.

Still much more to go through. Maybe I can find "smiling, long ear George" in there somewhere.

Not that it has any immense value, but your next to the last scan is a Newton, Kansas Precancelled Stamp (specifically, PSS Type 701). Some precancel collectors may find that interesting.
