Was this very error, Common in this Stamp. Photos Below.

I do not know the name for this. So I called it Smoke on the fire.
Catchy I thought. Thanks Steve.

Misregistration of the vignette occurs on all of the values of the Pan American issue.
They are fairly common on the 1c steamship and the 2c locomotive stamps.
There are "fast ship" (shifted left), "slow ship" (shifted right) and "sinking ship" (shifted down) varieties on the 1c stamp.
Likewise there are "fast train" and "slow train" varieties on the 2c stamp.
Yours is a fast train on high ground. These varieties are interesting and highly collectible.

Not so smart, the Pan American stamps are just one of my favorites!
There are some Pan American covers in this thread.

Gee, at first I thought it was a reference to Deep Purple's "Smoke On The Water"...Ha! or maybe a Smokey The Bear stamp.

Hi Stever,
I can't see your images (from photobucket) anymore.
I assume no one else can either, right?
Can you fix them or better yet upload them to the forum?
We would like everyone to get a chance to see them.

Here is a plate # block of the sinking ship variety on the 1c Pan American stamp.

(Bill Lang has this block for sale on ebay.)
