This firm is based in Kansas and has a nice website and pricelists. I've been ordering from them and get good service. Lately I am noticing that some of the material I get seems second rate- perf separations, etc. Is anyone else familiar with them and is this sort of thing just what you have to expect?

High prices and mixed quality seem to be common complaints. Did they ever have a problem if you want to return them? I would use several companies to buy from. Ask questions before purchasing because it can be a real pain returning, (ie mail damage or loss).

Unless they described the item would have perf separations, and you know and agree to this before hand, selling impaired blocks (my term for plate blocks with perf separations) is inexcusable. Return them for a refund.

Considering there are untold TRILLIONS of plate blocks out there, spilling over into the next galaxy, any company should be able to send you pristine perfect well-centered problem-free plate blocks. And use the dogs to mail your order. I wouldn't put up with it for a minute!

PS - there is always the possibility that a "family assistant" is filling the orders, while the boss looks at collections and attends shows, but that's not really an excuse either.

The stamps with issues are older, mostly the common three cent ones from the 40's and 50's. They are probably worth only face and no, I haven't complained or said anything but am now looking for another dealer.
I have seen classified ads in Linn's by John Robie in Linden, CA- he fills PB want lists and also offers other US material. Has anyone done business with him? He's been around 60 years or so, so he must at least be ok.

While you might have to put up with seps for PB's from the 20's (and even then this should be noted and priced accordingly), this shouldn't be the case with the 40's and 50's.
