Cut square for US Navy warship USS Guam CB-2 (Alaska class large cruiser) while under construction at New York Shipbuilding Corp, Camden New Jersey. How I wish I, or another collector, or the US Navy had the entire cover.
To be honest, I despise cut squares.

I certainly agree with you. At least whomever did the trimming kept most of the postmark.

This could have bee an interesting cover. I received these cut squares as a gift and am thankful for the gift, but the history of the mailing is cut away.

Your cut square is from a cover that was posted on board a US ship which docked at Cristobal, Canal Zone. That is why the bottom part of the cancel says Paquebot.
