There's some interesting comments today on USPS Facebook about the Inverted Jenny and the Collector's Edition Stamps and Proofs. The general response, is that the presentation looks interesting ... but not $200 interesting. All of the comments seem to raise the very issue we all knew at the outset: $200 is just simply too expensive for such a presentation piece.
Maybe the USPS will take the hint for future products. |

This was posted a by Crouse27, The position 4 of the panes was completly absent in my batch of 30. I had several of each other position 1,2,3,5, and 6. That is surprising What does it mean? Thanks for the info in advance. Kris |

Quote: Notice anything different about it? If you look closely on the map, the text for "New York City" is positioned differently. If you really want to flyspeck this illustration, you will notice the city "Washington, D.C." is also slightly moved. In fact, you can flyspeck this illustration and discover some other minor differences, too, such as as the cloud formations above the building in the background. A little hard to see, but isn't the Year a different color also? |

To Jenny2013 regarding the position 4. There are 6 positions in the uncut sheets. Three at top row and three below. The position is marked in a small diagram on the back of each sheet as 1-6. The individual sheets are cut from these larger sheets which are likely the same thing as press sheets. It was odd that in my batch of 30 there was not a single position 4 sheet.
However, I have since been through another 50 sheets from different sources and found several position 4 examples. So they are not more scarce, should be equal as other positions in amount, but clearly not evenly distributed. |

I just received the August 2014 American Philatelist. I noticed that Regency=Superior is putting an Non Invert variety Jenny up for sale at the APS StampShow in Hartford. They estimate the one stamp will bring $10.000! Is this the way these things are going to be sold, one stamp at the time, cut out of the sheetlet?

Peter, I suspect that breaking and selling singles will make the sheets even more valuable.

It's definitely a risk, as the last one up for auction didn't even sell! The opening bid is actually $2200, even though it is estimated to bring $10K to $20K. Checkout this Linn's Stamp News article about it: http://linns.com/news/stamp-market-...rior-auction |

I believe it is from the same pane. In fact, with only 18 reported "finds" (to date) I believe this is the only example that has been broken up into four corner singles and a central pair (per the Linn's article below). I'm sure the owner/seller (said to be stamp dealer Ross Wiessmann) did this in anticipation that he can realize more for the separate parts than for the whole. http://www.linns.com/news/stamp-mar...p-to-auctionBy the way, here's the link showing the UL single auction by Daniel F. Kelleher (back in May 2014) went unsold, even though it, too, had an auction estimate of $15,000 to $20,000: http://db.kelleherauctions.com/php/...t=820&lang=1 |
