I found this postcard in a large accumulation, it caught my eye due to what was written on the back. Is the sender saying that this qwas the actual first stamp sold by this post office? Or does he mean this was the first postcard sent? Or???

Does this make this post card more collectable or should I just throw it back into the 'sell by the pound' pile?

Thank you in advance for any input/opinions.

He is most likely is referring to the cancellation. Neat card you have there.

As a side note, the "summer post office" at Acahela, PA was in operation from 07/08/1930 to 10/31/1944 according to this link (which is in line with the Postal Bulletin postings):

http://webpmt.usps.gov/pmt007.cfm?P...PENNSYLVANIA

Even Jim Forte's Postal History Website has it wrong, as they show it in operation only from 1930-1941.

In either case, a post office only open for 14 summers has to be a relatively scarce postmark. I would agree the postcard shown is noting the new postmark handstamp (a nice clear one at that) put into use at that location, probably to replace a lost or damaged one that was in use earlier.

With the above info from wt1, I'd bet on selling as a stand alone it to a Pennsylavania cancel collector, or anyone who collects scarce town cancels.

I think they both just hit this thread already! I know I'm interested.
