I start with the post office or the usps web site. Nothing cheaper on the market.

Then really the best bargains are from individuals or auction sites. If you are just buying common stamps for filling your album you will over pay at most web sites period. This is really no need yo do this at all.

If you are collecting top grade MNH then there are several web sites but expect to pay dearly for most stamps.

Well it seems that on e-bay most stamps I like are priced at .99.
Seems like it would get kind of expensive buying them that way.
Is there a trusted e-bay seller I should be looking for?

I'm assuming you mean stamps for collecting purposes, not postage.

I get some excellent deals on bidStart. And sometimes just "ok". The secret is in the "hunt" for the right stamp at the right price. I very rarely use ebay anymore.

Thanks for the list of places.
I am brand new to this and just want to buy from trusted places.
Any SCF members that might be able to sell to a new guy that really is lost right now?

Hello stlspidey, welcome!

Other sites that are used to buy and sell stamps are

Delcampe in Europe (worldwide audience like ebay) =

Stamps2Go = http://www.stamps2go.com/default.aspx

. . . also remember our rules and guidelines for buying and trading:

I've had very good luck with Delcampe, you can specify only sellers in the U.S. and there are a ton of them at very good prices.

I'm not sure what other members might say, but if you want to just try an online stamp dealer, I've had good luck (long before joining this board) just 'hunt and pecking' stamps, $15-25 an order, from Golden Valley Stamps in Minnesota. They have a regular type website for just US, broke down by year, and sell year sets if desired. I was happy with what I got from them. You can certainly get cheaper if you look around, but even if you don't order from them, they show pretty much every stamp and have a price, so you could look around and see what you might want to look for elsewhere. Their prices seem to be right around the guide price, which isn't really fantastic, but it's not near the price of the rip-off dealers like Mystic and such..

If you want to look at their US stuff, you can try this link.

http://www.minnstamp.com/catalog/in...php?cPath=36

that'll take you to the US page.

I'm sure if anybody has any other opinions of Golden Valley, they'll chime in. Like I said, I've used them to fill in holes in my later years (replacing stamps ruined by glazing), and for the non-valuable 'normal' stamps, they were priced ok and had them in stock, and I always had good results :)
