Wpg:
Mum started out as a CR4-clerk, in 1972, took night courses and worked her way up the chain.
She was a bean counter for years in collection and delivery. Her last few years she was Manager, Northern Services. She was responsible for all the RPO's (Retail Postal Outlets) in the NWT and Northern Québec.
When she retired, the NorthWest Company, with whom she negotiated all the contracts for the north for handling postal services, gave her a huge Inukshuk carved from soapstone.
She was also on the team that negotiated the mail sorting on Baffin Island for Greenland. All mail posted on Greenland goes to
Canada Post's MPP on Baffin Is. for sorting, and then back to Greenland.
After she retired, she was hired by
Canada Post International to set up post offices on Aruba, a former Dutch Colony.
