German inflation covers are pretty popular. They date around 1923 when reparation payments demanded of Germany by the victors of World War I wrecked the German economy and eventually led to Hitler's rise in power.

German covers of the time bear stamps in quantity as the value of the Mark fell and inflation skyrocketed.

This post card needed 11 copies of Scott 224 to be mailed. Since the stamps would not fit on the message side, they were affixed to the picture side with F.B. noted where the stamp would normally go.

Sorry about that. Actually this card sold maybe a year ago. Was cleaning up some files on my web hosting account and forgot I had posted it here. Fortunately they were easy to find and restore from the site backup.

That wasn't mean, Swabbie. It was a mistake. Mean would have been deliberate!

Just kidding Modern. I'm bidding on a few more of your covers on ebay. Maybe I won't lose track of what day it ends this time.

That is an outstanding link Bob. That short article says it about as well as I've ever seen the subject described. It also led me to that nasty little BuckACover site that I certainly didn't need to find!
