That's right...The US Postal Service Office of the Inspector General is seeking opinions on whether or not the Harry Potter Issue was a good idea and the right trend to market stamps in the future. In particular, they are looking for comments addressing the following points:

1. Should the Postal Service market stamp images that focus on a younger audience in hopes of reaching beyond traditional collectors and generating sales?

2. Should the Postal Service be allowed to develop themes and images that do not focus on American heritage for the sake of sales?

3. Or, should stamps be works of art and pieces of history and not based on fads or celebrities?

4. What stamp images would you like to see?

Here's your opportunity to respond:

I like the fact that as a moderator you offer thought provoking topics rather than just playing a role as an observing moderator. I will definitely respond to the poll but to briefly answer the questions here goes.

#1... I have to ponder the question about the younger generation but there are untapped markets such as series of stamps for each major league team with a first day ceremony at the home opener of each ballpark. The same could be done with football.

#2 I think that at this time we should confine ourselves to American ideas.

#3 History should be given a priority over other ideas.

#4 A stamp in 2015 to celebrate 80 years of A.A. featuring Bill W.
Tom
