Hey all hello, ever see one of these and what is it or better yet what to do with it? I found a no color embossed washington postal stationary envelope- appears long ponytail on washington. oddity, error? Have you ever seen one?
yup one got on-top of the other on the embossing die so the top one got the ink and the bottom just got t he embossing. jobi could tell you more as these types of things are his specialty. Maybe he'll chime in?
thanks, that is a new term for me learned today albino. I took a look under a light and seemed a lot of circular creases on this envelope it dawned on me this envelope was caught in the machine and got hit many times., I scanned a picture at this link all those indents appear to be circular embossed light prints.
Albino, aka colorless, impressions became more and more common as attempts to expedite the printing process progressed. Faster printing presses created many EFOs and most have negligible additional value. The contracts from 1902 through about 1950 saw many changes in printing presses and printing techniques. Albinos, while technically errors, are classified as freaks as far as value ($2-$10). I Love Stamps gave the explanation of how they occur earlier.
Sorry to be so slow responding, some internet provider issues on my end.
