hello everyone I've been here I guess 4 days and I'm looking for some info. on what device is best for scanning stamps. I'd love to post pics of some stamps in my IDK envelope, can someone help me choose the proper equipment.
I use the scanner that came with my printer. With a little care, it is possible to take decent photos as well with a more recent digital camera with a macro feature.
I then use Gnu Image Manipulation Program (free) to crop and size my images.
I have a Canon Canoscan Lide 200 for 4 years and I use Picasa 3 (free loading). I save the picture and resize it to 100 kb or under. Then I can load it on SCF. Welcome to SCF!. Daniel
TinMan, yes I could scan to SCF but I don't have a scanner. I was hoping some of you could help me find one. Before you guys start rattling off expensive hardware I want to tell you I have a stamp budget, my wife said if I want a scanner it comes out of your stamp budget. You know what that means "NO NEW STAMPS"... Noooo!! I might go into withdrawal. So with that in mind is there a good 1200dpi or 2400dpi scanner that is tried and true that not to expensive.
I bought a HP $39 scanner at Best Buy. It works just fine for me. I don't know the specs but it's fast and the scans are clear. It's a Desk-jet model # 1051 but it is about four or five years old.I don't know the Specs. I just know it works good and I am very happy with it.
