I have made some order in my box of double stamps and find this for the US.Is there something interesting or not.
I was looking a stampcatalogue for the US on internet and it looks me very complicated with all the watermarks, reprints, colors etc .
Is there an easy way to handle it ?
Albert

There is. A scott catalog is your best bet and you really don't need to worry about watermarks until you get to the small banknote issues and they are pretty straight forward. I would love to assist you any way I can. Also, YES! they are all of interest and early US issues and some Back-of-Book stuff at the bottom- those are a whole different animal but there are specialists on this forum to help you with those.

The last 3 in scan 4, the Battleships and the larger ones on the bottom are Revenue Stamps used for paying a tax for a variety of services, they are found in the back of the catalog therefore referred to as back of the book.

The best revenue here is the blue and black 70 cent second issue on the bottom row. Ordinarily the value would depend a lot on whether it has a cut cancel or not, but this example is damaged so it's value is negligible anyway.
