Collector Or Hoarder?

I began stamp collecting when I was eight years old (I am now 63). Having looked at my neighbor's collection, I was hooked. At first, if it was a stamp, I collected it. However, this is the second collection I have begun. My first disappeared during my military career. About 15 years ago, I decided to thin out my accumulation and concentrate strictly on used U.S. If it was postaly used to mail something in the U.S. and it ends up in my hands, it will eventually end up in my collection. I do have several stamps I keep for "close inspection". Stamps such as Scott #220 looking for relief breaks and other stamps for the same reason. As with most collectors, I have boxes of stamps laying around waiting me to check. It seems to get easier to empty a box the older I get.
