Hello all,

I just joined SCF after looking around for some information on some items I recently aquired from a local auction. I was a not so avid collector when I was younger, but recently I have again started collecting coins and very recently wanted to start collecting stamps again.

I have been reading a number of the posts and realized there really is alot more to this than I thought. I collect for the historical and artistic value of the items, even if they are only art to me (as my wife would put it). I really haven't thought about specializing in anything and have a few *beginner* books of stamps I have picked up from thrift stores and local auctions.

In a recent auction I won what I thought was two books of stamps that turned out to be 3 books, about 15-20 cancelled stocks and a number of other documents from the 1800's to very early 1900's.

I may have a lot of questions so if I start asking too many just let me know. I will usually be on just doing alot of reading to help get my knowledge up to speed.
