It's not a great photo, maybe the pixels are off in that corner. Could be another stain that almost blends in with the original ink. Looking closely, I think I see the outline of the original triangle.

Hi, Ray... no, not a great photo at all... combining your thoughts
with that of Gary's - with a possible secondary red ink cancel, you
may be correct... the truth will be known next week... (smiling)

From looking at the topic pic at the perf border top right and bottom right it appears to maybe be a red cancel. The black might just be dirt from something stacked on it.

Hi, Gary... you may possibly have nailed it... we shall see what we shall see...

Overall, whichever way it turns out, this is $20 well spent for some
great conversation !

Thanks to all... new clean scan coming next week...

Randall

Hi Randall, I remember a year ago I was going thru my MNH singles with plate block numbers and I dropped one from the table. I was looking all over the place and ending up finding it stuck to the bottom of my flip flop. It had that dark speckled type of cancel but it "was MNH. lol Gary

Trying to guess from that photo is exactly what it is, a guess at best.

Hi, I can see you are discussing prices. Can I ask someone for an opinion what can be retail price for this whole collection?

Thanks.

Jingi,

Here is a link to an auction page for direct purchase from a company of long standing that has two lots composed similarly to your page: http://stampauctionnetwork.com/ba/r26720.cfm

Lots 394 and 395 is the right range, and presently the sale price varies from $250-500 for the set. Your set will not be at the highest end of that range since it does not have a duplicate 30c value as theirs does. There is some variance in the grade comparisons of each denomination, but as a whole this gives you the picture. All of this assumes your stamps have no more hidden faults than theirs.

I just noticed their lot #397 also covers your set with a couple of additional stamps, in the F-VF range at $190. You should probably figure your set down in the 200-250 range I suspect, unless you are trying to sell to a dealer.
