Seller has it listed at 50% of Scott, but accepts offers...

Added Note : considering the way the cancel is clusted
in the middle (coupled with blurred image), I'm wondering
if this could even be a 138... there's not enough pixels
in the image to manipulate any grilling info, and there's
no backscan in the listing...

Personally at 50% of catalog I think it's way over priced. Short perfs on the left, top, & bottom make me take a pass on it.

I think the stamp is worthy of a $20-$25 offer
for any cancel collectors (of which I'm not one)...

However... I just messaged the seller to look for
a grill... if he comes back and says there is one,
I will certainly be buying it given its value as
a 138... cancel collector or not...

If he has properly ID'd this stamp, you might want to be very careful about a grill. He is calling this a #160, which makes it a Continental. The photo is not clear enough for me to be sure, but it should show the secret marks and seems to. In that case the only grill is a Continental J grill, for which you will have an uphill battle with the PF getting it recognized, even if it looks genuine to you. Based on present Scott listing, the 7c with J Grill is not known used.

I don't buy anything that looks like it was moving when the photo was taken

Kirk... funny you should state it quite that way...

I have a saying about certain types of restaurants...

"Never order anything that still moves when served"...

Back to the subject at hand....

Seller messaged back... no grill...

I wouldn't touch no matter whather the seller says it has a grill or not. There are other fish in the sea.

That is one UGLY stamp, regardless of centering. It looks to have all sorts of bumps, wrinkles, and possibly creases. Who knows what other faults may be hidden. While some of that might be improved by a soak and press, I would not touch it.

Ugly or not, I find it highly remarkable nobody
noticed the obvious... almost no 'A' in postage,
the bottom portion of the 'E' nearly missing,
breaks in the design on the right side... with
the most obvious being the lower right triangle
being somewhat of a square...

FYI... I offered the seller $15 for the stamp,
and he countered at $20... to-wit I paid him...

When the stamp arrives, I'll be giving it a nice
bath and a flattening, and will then repost it
to this discussion...

The A and bottom of the E appear to have stains on them, that's why they seem to be hardly there. That is a very dirty stamp. With luck a bath in warm water perhaps with a touch of mild dish detergent might make it more palatable.

You may be correct with regards to interference
from the cancellation with regards to the letters,
however, there's no denying part of the lower right
ball is not only missing, it has received vermilion
ink, which is in no way relative to the cancel...

Could be part of a letter from an orange or red cancel?

It's not a great photo, maybe the pixels are off in that corner. Could be another stain that almost blends in with the original ink. Looking closely, I think I see the outline of the original triangle.

Keep us posted.

From looking at the topic pic at the perf border top right and bottom right it appears to maybe be a red cancel. The black might just be dirt from something stacked on it. Respectfully, Gary
