I have a scott 76 that includes a pulled perforation from the right side. I actually have the pulled perforation, and wondered if there is someone I could send it to who could do an expert repair job? Yes - I did this damage myself

Of course, when I got to sell it or what not, I would disclose the repair - I'd just like to preserve it as best as possible. Since I have the pulled perf, I'd like to have it re-attached. Can anyone recommend someone who could do an expert, reputable repair?

I notice now that it also has a short perforation tip at the left - and that remaining tip could also be reattached. Other than these 2 faults, it has a surface scratch/scrape you can see, but it's so nice looking and well centered, I'd like to look into having it repaired. If it weren't so nice looking, I probably wouldn't bother!

Matt

Hi mattodd1,

Personally, I would put the probably not inconsiderable repair cost towards replacing the stamp with a better specimen. Apart from the faults you mention the stamp has an unattractive cancel which obliterates much of Jefferson's face. That alone would deter me from buying this stamp were it otherwise perfect.

Turn the stamp face down and put the perf where it belongs. Use the head of a pin to take a bit of glue off of a glue stick and apply it to the back of the tear. A little practice with some small newspaper pieces should get you sufficiently proficient to do the job.
