doesn't seem like the portrait is lined up with the other side.

Why should they be? That's two separate stamps.

Buck- If the portrait isn't lining up, then would you think the perforations all the away around be off way more?

Actually, I'm not really sure if what I'm seeing is a silhouette. It may just be the way I held it in the light. hard for me take a picture..

Alignment of stuck stamps is not freakish at all, in fact that kind of alignment is quite common. Afterall, the stamps are folded on the perforations. This happens in humid environments when the owner folds the stamps to save space. Maybe the original owner, having purchased the stamps for postage, folded them to fit in a wallet. Who knows, but no way is this an "error". Soak the stamps and get two NG stamps and be done with it.

Or perhaps you could try the freezer trick and they will separate with little gum disturbance, but probably a long shot.

No. As suggested earlier, throw it in a cup of water. You will see two stamps separate when the gum dissolves. I know, you are worried about disturbing the gum on what may be a rare two sided stamp...but it is not two sided, it is two stamps stuck together. Trust the group on this one.

I had a stamp hinged into one of my albums for nearly 40 years. One day it looked kind of funny to me...turned out to be two stamps stuck together, and looked like only one. You really couldn't tell. They weren't even the same kind of stamp, just the same size & perforation.

Not trying to frustrate anyone. Just learning..I understand all of your input but what about the little strip at the base? Why isn't this seperated? You can see the division up further but I can't see it in that little strip that is connected.

I should clarify...the tiny strip at the base is not seperated.
