I recently purchased a 1c perforated Franklin tied on a circular, October 5, 1857. It appears to be a T.IV (recut at top), and not a T.II to me. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

The stamp is a type IV recut top and bottom. Was the size of the image increased after the scan? The scan doesn't seem to be as sharp as it might be.

Thanks, Art and Clark, for the input. The scan was reduced to be less than 100K to upload, so my reducing it must have impacted the clarity.

I could see that it was recut at the top, but wasn't sure about the bottom.

Thanks, ray.mac! I checked a number of times, to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious. When I purchased it, I was thinking it was at least a Type II - this was an unexpected surprise, since I purchased at a Type V pricepoint.
